Every laundry is set up differently, most have a washing machine installed next to a laundry tub (sink) so first you need to locate the washing machine hose outlet. If it is not already draining into your sink, then it needs to be moved so that it does. By having your filter clearly visible in the sink, it makes it easy to see when it needs cleaning and easy to clean by rinsing down the sides and lifting out the ball of fibers…

If you don't want the filter bag and washing machine hose outlet draining into your laundry sink, then you can set up an alternative drainage receptacle, an example of one is shown here, use the drainage rack to protect the drain hole and ensure the drain hole and hose are 30 to 40mm diameter to ensure the waste water can drain at an adequate rate…
Washing machine & sink.
Locate hose outlet - example above sink.
Another example of above sink fitting.
Move to drain into sink.
Below sink fitting example, pull hose fitting off connection.
Plug connection with e.g. amalgamating tape, cork or rubber stopper.
Attach the 'U' bend fitting to the hose (most washing machines come with this fitting).
Hook over side of sink. IMPORTANT - take the sink plug out of the sink to prevent flooding and place the drainage rack over sink hole (not shown).
Unpack filter bag & strap.
Attach strap - place under hose.
Feed end of strap through itself.
Pull the strap tight around the hose positioned at the base of the u frame.
Slip the filter bag over the hose with the hose end positioned inside the inner strap.
Secure the filter bag handle using the snap fastener strap.
IMPORTANT place sink plug outside sink and place the drainage rack over the sink hole (not shown).
Adjust the height of the bag so its top is just below the sink top by sliding the snap fastener along the hose. Wash cloths as normal.
Monitor the level of fibres in the bag and clean after 1 to 2 weeks or before you see the level overflowing the bag.
Unsnap the bag, rinse down the sides from the outside of the bag.
The fibers will collect in the bottom of the bag.
Lift out the ball of fibers and dispose of in the rubbish or collect and find an in-house use e.g. make a lining for pot plants where the fibers can be contained.
Slip the bag back on and secure in place and it is ready to be reused over and over.
